Community Rules

Last updated: June 18, 2026

These Community Rules cover how to behave on Rolespace, what content is and isn't allowed, our 18+ and minor-safety rules, how to understand roleplay and fiction here, and how we handle reports and enforcement. They are part of our Terms of Use; see also our Privacy Policy. If there is any conflict, the Terms of Use control.

Rolespace is an adults-only (18+) community. Consenting adults may write and share mature and explicit fiction within the limits below. Some content is never allowed under any circumstances — above all, anything that sexualizes minors. These rules apply equally to writing, art, AI-generated content, and photos.

On this page
  1. Part 1 — How we treat each other
  2. Part 2 — What content is allowed
  3. Part 3 — Age & minor safety (18+)
  4. Part 4 — Roleplay & fiction
  5. Part 5 — Reporting, blocking & enforcement

Part 1How We Treat Each Other

Treat people with respect

Be kind to the real people behind the characters. Harassment, bullying, threats, stalking, and targeted abuse are not allowed. Disagreements happen — keep them civil, and don't follow someone around the site to attack them. Hate speech and attacks on people based on who they are (such as race, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation) have no place here.

Roleplay with consent

Great roleplay runs on communication and consent. Because mature and dark themes are allowed in fiction, it's especially important to respect your writing partners:

  • Talk about boundaries and expectations before intense, explicit, or dark scenes.
  • Respect a partner's limits and their "no." Don't pressure anyone into content they're uncomfortable with.
  • Keep in-character (IC) actions separate from out-of-character (OOC) feelings.
  • If someone wants to pause or stop a scene, let them.

Be yourself, respect privacy, don't spam

  • Don't impersonate other members, real people, or Rolespace staff, and don't create accounts to deceive.
  • Respect privacy — don't share others' private or identifying information ("doxxing") or repost private messages to embarrass or pressure them.
  • No spam or disruption — don't flood feeds or messages, post unwanted ads, run scams or bots, organize raids, or try to overload or break the Service.
  • Credit creators — don't pass off others' writing, art, layouts, or characters as your own; respect copyright (see the Terms of Use).
  • Be considerate with custom layouts — avoid rapidly flashing/strobing effects that can harm photosensitive members, and never use custom HTML/CSS to hide deceptive content, phish, impersonate Rolespace, or break the site.

Part 2What Content Is Allowed

Mature and explicit content (allowed, with limits)

Because Rolespace is for adults, consenting adult members may create and share mature themes and sexually explicit fictional content — including dark, violent, or taboo storylines — as part of roleplay and creative writing, within these limits:

  • All characters in sexual or explicit content must be, and be portrayed as, adults (18 or older).
  • Explicit content must be fiction between fictional characters — never a real, identifiable person in a sexual context.
  • Dark or taboo themes in a story must remain clearly fictional and never cross the absolute limits below.
  • Use clear content warnings for explicit or disturbing material, and keep explicit imagery out of always-public places (such as avatars and banners).

We may limit where mature content appears, label it, age-restrict it, or remove it, and we may decline to host content even if it isn't expressly banned.

Never allowed — zero tolerance

The following is strictly prohibited everywhere on Rolespace, including in fiction, roleplay, art, AI-generated content, edited images, photos, private messages, and members-only groups. Violations may result in immediate, permanent removal and, where the law requires, reporting to authorities:

  • Any sexual or suggestive content that depicts, describes, or sexualizes a minor, or any character or person who is or appears to be under 18 — including "aged-up" canonical minors and child-like characters. There are no exceptions.
  • Real child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or anything that facilitates the sexual exploitation of children.
  • Sexual content depicting real, identifiable people, and non-consensual sharing of real intimate images.
  • Content that promotes or solicits real-world abuse, exploitation, or other illegal acts.

Other prohibited content

  • Illegal content, or content that facilitates serious illegal activity (e.g., selling drugs or weapons, fraud, trafficking).
  • Credible threats, or content that incites or glorifies real-world violence or terrorism.
  • Hate speech that attacks or dehumanizes people based on protected characteristics. (Depicting prejudice within fiction differs from promoting hatred as yourself; slurs used to harass real people are never allowed.)
  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or doxxing.
  • Promotion or glorification of self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders. (Supportive, non-graphic discussion is allowed.)
  • Excessively graphic real-world gore or shock content for its own sake.
  • Spam, scams, phishing, malware, or deceptive links.
  • Impersonation, or content designed to mislead about who you are.
  • Content that infringes intellectual property (see the Terms of Use).

Face claims, real people, images, and AI

  • Face claims (using a real person's photo for a character) must depict a real adult, represent a fictional character, and never place the real person in sexual content or be used to impersonate, defame, or harass them.
  • Images you upload must be ones you have the right to use, and must follow all rules above. Keep explicit imagery off avatars and banners.
  • AI-generated writing and images are subject to all of these rules — there is no AI exception.
  • Custom code and group pages must follow these content rules too; group owners are responsible for content in the groups they run.

Part 3Age & Minor Safety (18+)

You must be 18 or older to use Rolespace. Any sexual content involving a minor — or anyone who is or appears to be under 18 — is strictly forbidden in every form, including fiction, art, AI-generated content, and photos. There are no exceptions. We remove violators and, where the law requires, report to the authorities.

18+ requirement and enforcement

Rolespace is strictly for adults. You must be at least 18 to create an account or use the Service, and you confirm this when you register. There is no version of the Service for minors and no parental-consent option. If you are under 18, do not use Rolespace; if you already have an account, stop using it. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 or collect their information; if we believe an account belongs to a minor, we may suspend or terminate it and remove the data, and we may ask for verification.

Zero tolerance for the sexualization of minors

As stated in Part 2, any content that sexualizes a minor or anyone who appears under 18 — in any medium, including fiction, drawings, AI content, and photos, and including "aged-up" canonical minors — is strictly and permanently prohibited, with no exceptions for fantasy or art style. Using images of minors as profile pictures or face claims, or in any sexual or exploitative way, is also prohibited.

Grooming and what we do

Any attempt to contact, solicit, sexualize, or groom a minor, or to use Rolespace to reach minors, is strictly prohibited and results in immediate, permanent removal. When we identify minor-safety violations, we may immediately and permanently remove the account, remove the content, preserve relevant information as required by law, and report to law enforcement and to child-protection authorities (such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, NCMEC, in the United States). Bans for minor-safety violations are final.

Reporting concerns and information for parents

If you encounter content that sexualizes a minor, a member you believe is under 18, or predatory behavior, report it immediately using the in-product report tools or by emailing abuse@rolespace.me.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. In the United States, you can also report suspected child sexual exploitation to the NCMEC CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678.

Parents or guardians who believe their child created an account or provided personal information can contact privacy@rolespace.me and we will remove the account and data promptly.

Part 4Roleplay & Fiction

Characters, stories, and roleplay on Rolespace are works of fiction. They do not depict real people or real events, and they do not represent the views, endorsement, or intentions of the writers or of Rolespace.

Fiction, not endorsement

Profiles, characters, scenes, and roleplay are imaginative works created by members. Mature or dark themes within a story are not an endorsement, encouragement, or instruction to do those things in real life. A character's actions and opinions are not the author's, and are not Rolespace's. "In-character" (IC) conduct stays in the fiction and is never an excuse to harass or mistreat a real person.

Real people, advice, and your judgment

  • A face claim is only a visual reference; the character is fictional and does not represent the real person or anything they actually said or did.
  • Nothing on Rolespace is medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice — even if a story discusses such topics.
  • We do not verify members' identities or the accuracy of what they say about themselves (beyond our 18+ requirement). Use good judgment and protect your personal information.
  • We do not review content before it is posted; you may encounter content you dislike, and you engage with the Service and other members at your own discretion. You can use content warnings, blocking, and reporting, and step away from any roleplay at any time.

Part 5Reporting, Blocking & Enforcement

How to report something

If you see content or behavior that breaks these rules, use the in-product report option on the profile, post, or content, or email abuse@rolespace.me. Helpful reports include links or usernames, what rule you think was broken, and any context. You can report even if you've also blocked the member. For urgent situations involving danger to a person, contact local emergency services first; for minor-safety concerns, see Part 3.

Blocking other members

You can block another member from their profile. Blocking someone:

  • Stops them from sending you direct messages;
  • Stops them from sending you friend requests;
  • Stops them from commenting on your profile; and
  • Removes existing connections between you (such as friendship and follows).

You can manage and undo blocks in Settings → Privacy. Blocking limits direct interaction, but it does not necessarily hide content you have already made public, and it is not a substitute for reporting serious violations.

How we review and what we may do

Reports go to our moderation team, and some content is also flagged automatically for review. We assess content and accounts against these rules and the Terms and take proportionate action, generally escalating for repeat or serious violations. Depending on severity we may:

  • Issue a warning (sometimes with a category such as harassment, hate, spam, or NSFW placement);
  • Remove or hide specific content;
  • Disable unsafe custom code or effects (e.g., turn off rapid flashing or remove disruptive HTML/CSS);
  • Mute or temporarily suspend an account;
  • Freeze, unpublish, or remove a group, or act on group content;
  • Permanently ban an account.

Serious violations — above all, anything that sexualizes minors — can result in immediate permanent removal without a prior warning, and reporting to authorities. When we take certain actions on your account or content, we may notify you in the Service and, for some actions such as warnings, by email.

Appeals and our discretion

If you believe we made a mistake, you can appeal most decisions by contacting support@rolespace.me with your username and details. Some decisions are final and not appealable — in particular, bans for violations involving the safety or sexualization of minors. Enforcement involves judgment, and we are not obligated to monitor all content; abusing the reporting tools (such as false or coordinated reports) is itself a violation.

Changes to these Rules

We may update these Community Rules as the community and the law evolve. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service. Your continued use of Rolespace after changes take effect means you accept the updated Rules.

To report a problem: in-product tools or abuse@rolespace.me. Appeals and help: support@rolespace.me. Privacy and parent/guardian requests: privacy@rolespace.me.
