Terms of Use
Last updated: June 18, 2026
Welcome to Rolespace. Rolespace is an online roleplay and creative-writing community where members create profiles and characters, write collaborative fiction, join groups, share posts and images, message one another, and customize their pages. The Rolespace website at rolespace.me, together with all of its features and services (the "Service"), is operated by ROLESPACE ME LLC ("Rolespace," "we," "us," or "our").
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Rolespace that govern your access to and use of the Service. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use Rolespace.
Rolespace is an adults-only (18+) community that permits mature and explicit fictional content between consenting adults, within strict limits. Section 3 (Eligibility) and our Community Rules explain what is and isn't allowed. These Terms also include an arbitration agreement and class-action waiver (Section 21) that affect how disputes are resolved.
1. The Service
Rolespace provides tools for creative roleplay and social interaction, which may include: member profiles and character pages, custom profile layouts (including custom HTML and CSS), groups and roleplay universes, collaborative scenes, social features (such as Spark, Echo, Halo, the Wire, and bulletins), photo galleries, comments, direct and group messaging, events, and optional premium features. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.
2. Changes to These Terms or the Service
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service. Your continued use of Rolespace after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. We may also modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.
3. Eligibility — You Must Be 18 or Older
Rolespace is strictly for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Service. By using Rolespace, you represent and warrant that you are 18 or older and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
Because Rolespace permits mature content, we do not allow anyone under 18 to use the Service under any circumstances. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will terminate it. Our Age & Minor Safety rules describe our zero-tolerance approach to minors and to any sexual content involving minors, and how to report a concern.
4. Your Account
To use most features you must register an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it current. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Notify us promptly at support@rolespace.me if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
You agree not to: create an account for anyone under 18; impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity; create accounts to evade a suspension or ban; or sell, transfer, or share your account. We may limit the number of accounts you may hold. By creating an account, you agree that we may contact you by email about your account and the Service.
5. Community Rules and Acceptable Use
How you behave and what you post on Rolespace matters. You agree to follow our Community Rules, which are part of these Terms and cover conduct, content, our 18+ and minor-safety requirements, roleplay and fiction, and reporting and enforcement. In short, you agree not to use the Service to:
- Harass, bully, threaten, stalk, or target other members or anyone else;
- Post hate speech or content that attacks people based on protected characteristics;
- Share sexual or suggestive content involving minors, or content that sexualizes anyone who is or appears to be under 18 — this is never allowed, including in fiction, art, or images;
- Use real, identifiable people in sexual content, or share private or intimate images of a real person without their consent;
- Post content that is illegal, that promotes or facilitates serious harm, or that encourages self-harm, violence, or criminal activity;
- Infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights, including reposting others' writing, art, or photos without permission;
- Upload viruses or malicious code, or attempt to hack, overload, scrape, or disrupt the Service;
- Spam, run scams or phishing, send unwanted solicitations, or use bots or automation to access the Service;
- Impersonate Rolespace staff, or falsely suggest affiliation with or endorsement by Rolespace.
This list is not exhaustive. We may remove content and take action on accounts that we believe violate these Terms or our Community Rules, as described in Section 13.
6. Mature and Adult Content
Rolespace is an 18+ community, and consenting adult members may create and share mature and sexually explicit fictional content with one another, subject to the limits in these Terms and our Community Rules. Even where mature content is permitted, the following are always prohibited:
- Any sexual content involving, or that sexualizes, minors or anyone who appears to be under 18 — including written fiction, drawings, AI-generated images, and edited images;
- Sexual content depicting real, identifiable people, and non-consensual sharing of real intimate images;
- Content that promotes or glorifies real-world sexual violence, exploitation, or other illegal acts as something to be carried out in reality.
Where required, mature material must be kept within the contexts and behind the controls described in our Community Rules. We may restrict, label, age-gate, or remove mature content, and we may decline to host content even where it is otherwise permitted.
7. Roleplay and Fiction
Rolespace is built for fiction. Characters, stories, and roleplay on the Service are works of imagination and do not represent real events, real people, or the personal views, endorsement, or intentions of their authors or of Rolespace. Mature or dark themes within a story are not an endorsement of those acts in real life. You are responsible for separating in-character roleplay from real-world conduct, and nothing on Rolespace is professional advice. The Roleplay & Fiction part of our Community Rules explains this in more detail and forms part of these Terms.
8. Your Content and the Rights You Grant Us
"Your Content" means everything you create, upload, or post to Rolespace — including profiles, characters, roleplay writing, posts, comments, bulletins, images, custom layouts, and messages. You keep ownership of Your Content. We do not claim ownership of your creative work.
To operate the Service, you grant Rolespace a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, reproduce, display, and distribute Your Content, and to make technical changes needed to run the Service (for example, resizing or reformatting images and showing your content to the members you share it with). This license exists only so we can run and promote Rolespace. It ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except that (a) we may keep copies in routine backups for a limited time, and (b) we are not responsible for content others have already copied or re-shared.
You represent and warrant that you own or have the rights to post Your Content, that it does not violate anyone's rights or any law, and that it complies with these Terms and our Community Rules. You are solely responsible for Your Content.
9. Custom Profiles, Layouts, HTML and CSS
Rolespace lets you customize your profile and certain group pages with your own HTML and CSS. This is a powerful feature, and you are responsible for the code you add. You agree not to use custom code to: insert scripts or trackers; phish for or harvest other users' information; impersonate Rolespace or its interface; hide deceptive or prohibited content; link to malware; or break, obscure, or disrupt the Service for other members.
We apply filtering to custom code to help keep the Service safe, but we cannot guarantee that filtering catches everything, and custom code is provided and used at your own risk. We may modify, disable, or remove custom code or layouts that we believe are unsafe, deceptive, broken, or in violation of these Terms.
10. Groups and Communities
Members can create and run groups and roleplay universes. If you create or help run a group, you are responsible for how it operates and for the content and rules you publish within it, and you must comply with these Terms and our Community Rules. Group rules set by members may add to — but never override — these Terms or our site-wide rules. We may review groups and take action on group content, group settings, or the group itself when our Terms or rules are violated.
11. Messaging, Reporting, and Blocking
Rolespace includes direct messages and group chats. Don't use messaging to harass, spam, or send prohibited content. You can report content or members through the reporting tools, and you can block other members. Blocking prevents the blocked member from messaging you, sending you friend requests, or commenting on your profile, and removes existing connections between you. How we handle reports and what actions we take are described in the Reporting & Enforcement part of our Community Rules. How staff may access content is described in our Privacy Policy.
13. Moderation, Suspension, and Termination
We want Rolespace to be safe and enjoyable, but we are not obligated to monitor all content. We may, at our discretion, review content and take action — including removing or hiding content; issuing warnings; muting, suspending, or banning accounts; freezing or removing groups; and disabling custom code — when we believe these Terms or our Community Rules have been violated, or to protect members or the Service. Serious violations, such as content sexualizing minors, may result in immediate termination and, where required by law, reporting to the appropriate authorities.
You can stop using Rolespace at any time and delete your account from your account settings; deletion permanently removes your account and associated content as described in the Account & Data Removal section of our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, for any violation of these Terms or as otherwise permitted by law. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licenses already granted, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution) will continue to apply.
14. Rolespace Intellectual Property
The Service itself — including its name, logo, design, software, and original content created by Rolespace — belongs to Rolespace and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own non-commercial roleplay and social use, in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer, scrape, or create derivative works from the Service except as expressly allowed. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
15. Copyright and DMCA
We respect intellectual property rights and respond to valid copyright notices under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"). When you post content, you represent that you own it or have the rights to post it; you keep ownership of your own work, subject to the license in Section 8. Don't post content that infringes someone else's copyright — including reposting another creator's writing, art, or photos, or using another member's original character or world-building without permission.
DMCA takedown notices.
If you believe content on the Service infringes a copyright you own or represent, send a written notice to our Designated Agent that includes: (1) your physical or electronic signature; (2) identification of the copyrighted work; (3) identification of the allegedly infringing material, with enough detail (such as a URL) to locate it; (4) your name, address, phone number, and email; (5) a statement of your good-faith belief that the use is not authorized; and (6) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

Counter-notices and repeat infringers.
If your content was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to our Designated Agent including your signature, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury of your good-faith belief that it was removed in error, your contact information, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court and to accept service of process from the complainant. We may restore the material after the period provided by the DMCA unless the complainant files a court action. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers, and a person who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing (or was wrongly removed) may be liable for damages.
16. Third-Party Links and Content
The Service may contain links to, or content from, third-party websites and services that we do not own or control — including links members add to their profiles. We are not responsible for third-party content or sites, and your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
17. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT CONTENT POSTED BY MEMBERS IS ACCURATE OR APPROPRIATE. YOU USE THE SERVICE, AND INTERACT WITH OTHER MEMBERS, AT YOUR OWN RISK.
18. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ROLESPACE AND ITS OWNERS, MEMBERS, AND PERSONNEL WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR CONTENT, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE OR THE CONDUCT OF OTHER MEMBERS.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $100.
19. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Rolespace and its owners, members, and personnel from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: your use or misuse of the Service; Your Content; your violation of these Terms or our Community Rules; or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
20. Interactive Computer Service
Rolespace is an "interactive computer service" under Section 230 of the U.S. Communications Decency Act. Content posted by members is created by them, not by Rolespace, and we are not the publisher or speaker of member content. We may, but are not required to, monitor, edit, or remove content, and our doing so does not make us responsible for it.
21. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Please read this section carefully — it affects your legal rights. Except where prohibited by law, you and Rolespace agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, except that either party may bring a claim in small-claims court if it qualifies. You and Rolespace each waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration. Any arbitration will take place on an individual basis. To the extent any dispute proceeds in court, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the state and federal courts located in Florida.
Any claim relating to the Service must be filed within one year after it arises, to the extent permitted by law; otherwise it is permanently barred.
22. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how staff may access content for safety and moderation, our use of cookies, how to delete your account, and your choices and rights. It is incorporated into and forms part of these Terms.
23. General
These Terms, together with our Community Rules and Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Rolespace regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and the unenforceable provision will be limited to the minimum extent necessary. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms do not create any partnership, agency, or employment relationship between you and Rolespace.
